Prof Klaus Strein holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of
Heidelberg and is also qualified as an M.D. specialized in pharmacology
and toxicology. Prof Strein joined Boehringer Mannheim (BM) as Head of
Cardiovascular Pharmacology in 1979. Over the years, he became Head of
Pharmacology and Head of Research and Development Medicine, and joined
the Executive Board of BM 1995, becoming Head of Pharma in 1997.
After BM was taken over by Roche in 1998, Prof Strein moved first to
Basel and then to Penzberg (Germany), where in 1998/99 he became Head of
Pharma Research. In 2001/2002, Prof Strein and his team in Penzberg
launched the Roche Therapeutic Protein Initiative. Prof Strein was
assigned global responsibility for the generation and molecular
engineering of therapeutic proteins/monoclonal antibodies at Roche.
In August 2009, Prof Strein moved to Basel and took over as ad interim
Global Head of Pharma Research; he was instrumental in the formation of
the new global division Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) in
early 2010. Since January 2010, he is in charge of all Pharma Research
and Early Development (pRED) activities in connection with the
generation, optimization, early technical development and formulation of
small molecules, therapeutic proteins, RNA therapeutics and therapeutic
stem cells.

Dr Holdener has over 20
years of international pharmaceutical senior executive experience and
was most recently Chief Medical Officer of F. Hoffman-La Roche's Pharma
Division. He was also Global Head of Pharmaceutical Drug Development at
Roche where he was instrumental in establishing and expanding Roche's
therapeutic areas and in achieving several key international approvals
for oncology, rheumatology, and virology drugs such as MabThera. He
also led Roche's development operations in Japan for three years and
was a member of the Chugai Co. acquisition and integration team during
the Roche/Chugai merger in 2001. Dr Holdener holds a medical degree
from the University of Zurich and completed a two year clinical and
experimental fellowship in oncology at the University of Kansas Medical
School, USA.

Founder of NovImmune, and former professor and director of the
Department of Genetics and Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine,
University of Geneva, Bernard Mach is the inventor of cDNA cloning and
is specialized in the molecular biology of immune response genes. Bernard was co-founder and member of the SAB of Biogen (1978-1992). He was
Chairman of the Lombard Odier Immunology Fund Scientific Advisory Board
from 1994 to 2002. He is now Chairman of the SAB of Aravis Venture Associates. Former member of the
Board of Directors of Serono and former board member of Lonza as well
as Scientific Advisor to various institutes and companies. He was a
Member of the Swiss Science Council (1974-1984), is a special member of
the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences and is a Member of the French
Academy of Sciences.

Jack Barbut joined NovImmune as CEO since 2001. He is the former President
and Chief Executive Officer of Synarc Inc, San Francisco, (1998-2000)
with more than 20 years of professional experience in clinical trials
management and drug development. Prior to joining Synarc, Jack Barbut
was the founder, Vice-Chairman and President of Clinical Services of
Chrysalis International, Inc., (1981-1998) a publicly (NASDAQ) traded
global full service, Contract Research Organization (CRO), with 450
employees, USD 60M in sales and USD 150 M in market capitalization when
it went public. Today it is part of MDS (NYSE), a global drug
development service company with USD 1.2 billion in sales and 11,000
employees. A Swiss citizen, Jack Barbut holds a MS in Electrical
Engineering and a ScD in Systems Engineering from the EPFL in Lausanne,
Switzerland.
