INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Proprietary protection for our products, processes and know-how is important to our business. Our policy is to file patent applications to protect technology, inventions, and improvements that we consider important to the development of our business. We also rely upon trade secrets, know-how and continuing technological innovation to develop and maintain our competitive position. We plan to aggressively prosecute and defend our patents and proprietary technology.

Regarding therapeutic fully human monoclonal antibodies, NovImmune’s policy is to file patent applications on fully human monoclonal antibodies, and their uses in disease treatment or diagnosis, at the time that these antibodies have been generated, characterized and shown to have the desired biological activity in a relevant assay.

Regarding small molecule drug candidates, NovImmune’s policy is to file patent applications when a "hit" has been identified that displays the desired biological activity in a relevant assay. Claims would encompass the small molecule as a composition of matter (and related structures that have the same function) as well as to methods of use (or equivalent EPO-style claims) for the contemplated indication.

NovImmune has filed patent applications covering its key technologies and development plans. The Company’s patent portfolio includes applications directed to its proprietary therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and their method of use, MHC Class II Transcription Factors (CIITA, RFX-ANK), multiple CIITA promoters, novel MHC Class II biochemical assays, and statins as immuno-modulators and immunosuppressors.

NovImmune’s strategy includes acquisition of additional intellectual property through sponsored research and in-licensing.
